Welcome to The Official Spital Bowls & Tennis Club WebsiteThe Spital Bowling and Tennis Club, founded in 1920 and situated on the North East side of Tamworth, Staffodshire, still continues to play on the original site. There have been a few changes throughout the years, with modern facilities and updates having taken place as recently as the last couple of years, with a new kitchen having been installed over the bowling closed season. The Club is open to all genders and all ages wishing to partake of the wonderful facilities the Club has to offer. As you can see from the Club title there are two sections to the club and you can join either or both of the Bowling and Tennis sections, with separate fees payable to both sections. In addition to the Bowling and Tennis there is a Table Tennis group and they currently meet on a Wednesday morning at around 10:30am. * * Table Tennis Section* *Starts Tuesday 23rd October & Friday 25th October at 2.30pm Entrance costs 50p, to include refreshments All are welcome, especially beginners We still play on Wednesdays at 10.30am Prospective members can turn up at the club and introduce themselves to any adult member who will then attempt to guide you to the relevant person to help you achieve your goal of membership or maybe coming initially as a guest to see "if it's for you" or not. Bowling starts at 2:30pm every day of the season, starting on 14th April 2007 through to October, date TBC, when it closes until the following season. We like people to be there at 2:15pm so that the names can be drawn for the teams to start at 2:30pm. The afternoon session usually terminates around 4:45pm and there are evening sessions starting around 6pm, light permitting. Tennis tends to start around 6pm on weekdays and approx 2:30pm in the afternoons at weekends - see relevant sections for more details. If you can't make it in person and would like more information, then click on the 'Contact Us' link and send us an email or failing that, click on the 'List of Contacts' and then you can phone or write accordingly. To get the best 'buzz of the club' try turning up on the day! We don't bite! Our fees, which can be found on the application form, are very reasonable as I'm sure you'll see for yourselves. Click on the Application form on the left to open in your pdf viewer and then print it out, fill it in and send it to the relevant Membership Secretary along with your subscription. We are a great bunch of people and give a warm welcome to all visitors, be they novices or experienced players! If you like club or interclub competitions/friendlies, then we also have a number of these running, and details can be found by looking at the various sections. Table TennisTable Tennis is currently played on Wednesday mornings, expanding out to Tuesday and Friday afternoons once the bowling season finishes. Social membership is required to join the Table Tennis Section, but existing full members only need to pay 50p. Full details of club fees can be found on the Membership Form and the contact is Sue Bates, Club Secretary - please see Contacts Page for details.
